This Power BI project analyzed Hospital Emergency Room (ER) operations to identify key trends in patient flow, waiting times, satisfaction levels, and department referrals. The goal was to deliver actionable insights that support hospital administrators in improving patient experience and operational efficiency.
👨💻 What I Did:
- Imported and cleaned the Hospital ER dataset for analysis.
- Designed a multi-view Power BI dashboard (Monthly View, Referral Analysis, Demographics, and Satisfaction Tracking).
- Created calculated columns and DAX measures for:
- Waiting Status (On Target vs Delayed)
- Wait Time Intervals
- Age Group Distribution
- Avg Wait Time
- Patient Satisfaction Score
- Referrals by Department
- Built interactive visuals:
- KPI Cards (Avg Wait Time, Satisfaction, No. of Patients)
- Heatmap of Patient Inflow by Hour & Day
- Bar & Pie Charts for Admissions and Referrals
- Age Group and Gender Breakdown
🎯 What I Learned:
- How to apply DAX measures for healthcare KPIs.
- Improved skills in categorizing patient demographics and wait time analysis.
- Learned to use Power BI storytelling to highlight bottlenecks like delayed patients.
- Gained confidence in building dashboards for real-world healthcare operations.
This project demonstrated how data visualization can improve healthcare decision-making, helping hospitals optimize ER efficiency and enhance patient care.
